Stockholm-Västerås Airport (VST) is located along the E18, approximately 5 km east of Västerås city center, just beyond Hälla shopping center. The journey to Stockholm takes about 75 minutes by bus.
The airport has just over 140,000 passengers per year, most of them traveling to destinations within Europe.
Aviation activities in Västerås took off shortly after the First World War. The site was originally a military test flight area – Sweden F1 – Sweden’s first military airbase. The Swedish Air Force operated here for another approximately 50 years until 1983.
The legacy of aviation training lives on in Västerås through a secondary school program that includes flight training and commercial aviation training via OSM.
